Sawing technology explained:

A closer look at the circular saw machine

Even after 85 years, Bewo is still working every day to further develop and perfect the techniques behind tube cutting. With the arival of new technologies, it is possible to continue to improve. Increasingly faster, more accurate, more reliable and more economical due to less saw blade wear.

Bundle loader

Tubes and other profiles can be loaded into the machine as a full bundle. The difficulty lies in singling out the tubes so that they can be fed into the saw one by one. Through the interplay of the bunker movement and the supply chain, we can process tubes fully automatically. Years of development of the control software makes it possible to saw tubes from Ø 6 mm (spagetti in professional jargon) without any problems.

Gripper infeed system

In the past, tubes were fed into the saw with a roller system, but we have now completely switched to a gripper system. Less chance of malfunction because there is no longer a need for a stop or guidance. The speed and accuracy of the gripper are unprecedented: Speed of 4 m/s and an accuracy of 0.01 mm, controlled by a servo motor.

Proportional cutting

Based on the tube shape a cutting profile is generated. a cutting profile is generated based on the tube shape. While the saw blade passes through the tube(s), the speed of the blade and the feed is continuously adjusted to achieve the optimal speed in combination with less wear on the saw blade. Even at full speed, the CPU of the servo motor, controls the optimal operation.

Sawblade management System

The saw blade is electronically divided into different sectors. By checking where the blade touches the product, even minor deviations in the blade can be compensated. This makes a final product tolerance of <0.1 mm feasible. And the wear of the blade can be limited.

Cutting wizard

A cutting machine is equipped with dozens of sensors and there are numerous variables and parameters that can be set to set the correct sawing program. To increase ease of use, we have developed the ‘Cutting Wizard’ software. Based on the product properties and the type of machine, the best set of settings can be automatically generated. The operator only needs to fine-tune for the best result, he can save the settings so that he can easily switch products and always produce optimally.

circulair saw or tube laser?

A tube laser can cut out special shapes, which can be useful if many different products need to be made.
The circular saw always makes a straight cut, if necessary a shape can then be made such as notching, punching or endforming. This usually happens for larger volumes because the processing must be set per product, a laser can make each product different through a software adjustment.

A circular saw is unparalleled when it comes to output and costs per cut. Because the latest machines can be easily and automatically changed over, it is an effective solution, even for small batches. In an industrial environment, the choice for a circular saw is obvious considering the investment, operating costs and maintenance. This is important when the machine is a strategic part of production.
